2011

I’ve put this video together containing every single thing I filmed last year, I managed to condense about 5 hours of footage down to just over 5 and a half minutes

Admittedly it’s more of a montage showing all the stuff I did with my friends but there’s a lot of work in there too, some stuff I havn’t shown yet and a couple of bits you’ll have seen before.

But please check it out, I’d really like to do more stuff like this.

The track is “While You’re Away I Wait, To Crumble In Your Arms” by Ooah

A long overdue picture for Spadge. She asked me to get a picture of her new tattoo when it was done in November! But here it is.
You can see these as individual photos here and here.

More 3D Tests

This is a really short gravity experiment. The spheres bounce off a cube with reflective sides which give the impression that there’s more of them. I made it after seeing a Ministry of Sound ad and put my own twist on it.

I started to work on this tree just before Christmas, but when work finished it was left on my computer and never saw the light of day, this is as far as I got with it. It uses a sphere emitter inside of an invisible cone and quickly fills itself up to reveal it’s shape. I havn’t figured out how to stop the “jittering” motion yet.

This was a quick test for converting logos into 3D. I used the LMS logo and raised it to different levels to give it some extra depth. I may do more with this later…

I have a couple of project ideas to work towards now so I’ll be posting more updates as they happen. Enjoy!

UPDATE

I made this and left it to render whilst we watched Leon after work. Could be evolved into some kind of ident?! I think the animation’s a bit jittery due to the frame rate and dynamic property settings. It looks cool though.

“Only Time Can Tell” - Teaser

The guys from Lower The Anchor have released a teaser for their new single “Only Time Can Tell” and they’ve used my footage!
Watch it above or on their YouTube Channel. I’m really looking forward to working with these guys some more this year.

-

UPDATE

The guys have also made a short live teaser featuring some of my footage from their gig at Club Rev. Hopefully there should be some more of this soon.

I have a new blog for all of my iPhone photos. I take a lot of random shots when I’m out and they rarely ever make it any further than Instagram, so I’ve set up a new tumblr where I’ll be posting them.
Feel free to follow over at Everything Looks Better in Lomo

I’ve been working with Chrissy on a video edit for her new tattoo. It’s being done by the guys at Lost Time in Peterborough and I’m documenting the progress from sketch to skin.

Here’s a few stills from her first session, there should be some more around January time, keep an eye on my Tattoo set for more stills.

It was my 23rd birthday in November and Chrissy bought me tickets to Madame Tussaud’s in London! She even got tickets for the Marvel bit which had a huge 2 storey Hulk, definitely check it out if you get the chance.

Fisheye!

My Fisheye arrived on Monday!

I was going to take it for a proper spin but it’s been cack outside, so instead, I took some photos around where I work.

These are said photos:

I don’t know who that girl is, I think she’s called Spadge or something?!

Here’s Kris. I need to remember to keep my finger out of shot now.

And that’s my face!

All in all I’m extremely happy to finally have a real fisheye, my adapter has kept me going for years but it’s great to actually make the upgrade. Looking forward to using it in some new projects too.

Cheers!

Spheres & Stuff & 3D things!

Here’s a few quick renders following on from my other 3D experiments. I think I may have the hang of turning things into spheres now…

This is pretty much a constant side project for me so I’ll be posting more stuff as and when I make it.

Enjoy!

Fixies, Bond films, Bacon, Beer, Coffee, Donuts, Graffiti, Graveyards & Mustaches
Dave and I took another trip over to Bristol to see Ben who was kind enough to put us up for a few days.
There’s usually an event on when we travel down but this time we took it easy and just chilled out. I took my 550D to document as well as my Minolta X 300 (Pictures from that will be up soon).
Here’s what I got!
The view from Ben’s flat

Tokina 10-17mm test shots
Ben introduced us to Laura & Taff, 2 lovely Brizzle folk who love their cameras. We talked about camera’s, lenses, film and their awesome cat, Pickle over a spot of tea and some ginger snaps.
Laura helped me load my Minolta and Taff was kind enough to give me some expired film, as well as a bit of a play with the Tokina which I will hopefully be buying soon.

Krispy Kreme is always necessary in Bristol

Ben

And it wouldn’t be Bristol without some fixie shots.
Ben bought himself a bright orange No Logo fixie from Bristol Dropouts. We were going to get some really nice pictures of it but ended up not having the time or the organisation skills. Still, it gives us an excuse for another trip.
We did managed to get a few nice close ups before we had to head off though

Cheers to everyone we met up with over there!Hopefully we’ll see you all again soon.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, Mover, Shaker, Coder, Raver

I turned Ben into a gif!

Last weekend I was given the opportunity to help Ben from Last Man Standing with a new music video, this time with Lower The Anchor from Peterborough. Whilst Ben did the vast majority of the shots for the video, I helped him out with some others as well as doing a bit of a behind the scenes style film on the guys doing what they do best.

It was filmed with a mix of lenses, 18-55mm, 50mm and 75-300mm, edited with Premiere Pro and I fixed up some of the colours in After Effects. I don’t have a proper external mic yet so the wind makes a bit of an appearance but it went down really well with the guys. Watch it, check out the stills an check out the band!

You can find them on Facebook at facebook.com/lowertheanchor
Or you can follow them on Tumblr at lowertheanchoruk.tumblr.com

Also, make sure to stay til the very end of the video…

On Sunday Mr Reid and I went to Wells and I took almost 100 videos. I’ve chosen the best ones and stuck them together to the chilled out sounds of El Ten Eleven.

Saturday was also pretty awesome, but I can’t talk about that yet. I like secrets!!
Although if you search for my Instagram you may find a little clue.

Anyway, here’s some stills from Sunday, have a browse through those and watch the video. Enjoy!

3D!
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying to get back to grips with it, I haven’t been anywhere near it in about 5 years and there’s a lot to get my head around again. But I’ve reeled off a couple of experiments and rendered out some stills at wallpaper size so you can enjoy these whilst I learn more!
You can download the full size versions from my Flickr but I’ll get a download link up on my site soon.
